Austin Coffey, of Saint Charles, MO., was an incredible soul taken too soon. His life was abruptly ended Sunday, Jan. 29, 2023 when he chose to end it due to his ongoing struggle with mental illness.
Depression and anxiety can be just as deadly as physical illnesses if not treated in a timely manner, and Austin’s family is devastated by the tragedy that has befallen them. Mental health awareness is such an important issue and Austin’s death should serve as a reminder of the importance of recognizing mental illnesses in people we know and providing help where necessary.

Austin Coffey was a beloved son, friend, father, and brother who touched the lives of all around him with his warm-hearted compassion. He had battled mental illness for some time and tragically passed away from an apparent suicide this past Sunday. This has left his family and friends in Saint Charles heartbroken; there is an immense amount of pain that accompanies the sudden loss of one so young. Depression and anxiety can be fatal if ignored or not treated soon enough. The passing of Austin is a devastating reminder to us all about the dangers of untreated mental health issues amongst our youth today. No words can adequately express the state of shock that overtook his community in Saint Charles as they mourned their lost son, friend, father, and brother.
